Ponekad se čini da je to obveza svakog posjetitelja nekog područja - druženje s lokalnim životinjama. Bilo da se jaše magarca na Santoriniju, devu u Egiptu ili slona na Tajlandu, to je na ‘bucket‘ listi mnogih posjetitelja. No, mnogi ne razmišljaju o tome uživaju li životinje u poslu kojeg obavljaju. Nisu, jer im je bolno i teško.
Kako piše Green, nekoliko je popularnih načina iskorištavanja životinja u turističke svrhe.
Jahanje slonova
U mnogim popularnim destinacijama turistima se nudi i jahanja slonova. Tako je primjerice na području Tajlanda “zaposleno“ više od četiri tisuće slonova.
Iako ta praksa na fotografijama djeluje kao simpatična i bezopasna za životinju, pri dresiranju radnih slonova koriste se okrutne metode. Slona se najprije izdvaja iz njegove zajednice i smješta u loše uvjete, gdje ga se često kažnjava.
Dodatan problem je i sama anatomija slona koji nije predviđen za takve aktivnosti. Naime, pod težinom najčešće željeznog sedla, oštećuju se vertikalni dijelovi slonove kralježnice.
Postoji opcija druženja sa slonovima, no za to je potrebno pronaći alternativu, poput sigurnih i provjerenih utočišta za slonove.
Borba s bikovima
Riječ je o okrutnoj tradiciji koja datira iz 8. stoljeća, a koju putničke agencije opisuju kao “ravnopravnu borbu“. No, to je daleko od istine, budući da životinja nema nikakve šanse da se sama obrani. U ringu je puno više naoružanih ljudi, a matador provocira zatočenu životinju.
Uz bikove u ovakvim arenama stradaju i konji. Kako javljaju Prijatelji životinja, izdavač američkog časopisa koji promiče borbe s bikovima priznao je da se konjima koji sudjeluju u borbama s bikovima “daju injekcije iza uha”.
Ovim konjima, koje bikovi nerijetko probadaju rogovima, često se u uši guraju mokre novine kako bi im se oštetio sluh te im se režu glasnice da njihovi krikovi ne bi uznemiravali gledatelje.
Plivanje s dupinima
Činjenica da ne biste smjeli plivati s dupinima čak ni u njihovom prirodnom staništu dokazuje koliko je to narušavanje njihovog prostora. Moguće je tako prekinuti neku od njihovih važnih aktivnosti poput odmora, druženja ili hranjenja.
Turistička atrakcija plivanja s dupinima samo je dokaz da životinja živi u zatočeništvu te da dnevno radi stotine krugova kako bi zabavila posjetitelje. Navodna edukacijska uloga dupina u različitim zabavnim parkovima ne stoji, budući da je jedina svrha i cilj takvih aktivnosti – zabaviti gledatelja.
Maženje tigrova
Posebno popularna turistička atrakcija nudi se u tajlandskim hramovima, gdje posjetitelji mogu maziti tigrove. Riječ je o još jednoj izrazito okrutnoj praksi, budući da je riječ o farmama tigrova. Drugim riječima, nakon obilaska i dodirivanja tigrova, mogu se kupiti suveniri napravljeni – od njih.
Tigar je divlja životinja kojoj je mjesto u njenom prirodnom staništu. Nije igračka i atrakcija za stotine turista, zbog kojih ih lokalno stanovništvo i drži u zatočeništvu.

Ponekad se čini da je to obveza svakog posjetitelja nekog područja - druženje s lokalnim životinjama. Bilo da se jaše magarca na Santoriniju, devu u Egiptu ili slona na Tajlandu, to je na ‘bucket‘ listi mnogih posjetitelja. No, mnogi ne razmišljaju o tome uživaju li životinje u poslu kojeg obavljaju. Nisu, jer im je bolno i teško.

U mnogim popularnim destinacijama turistima se nudi i jahanja slonova. Tako je primjerice na području Tajlanda “zaposleno“ više od četiri tisuće slonova.
Iako ta praksa na fotografijama djeluje kao simpatična i bezopasna za životinju, pri dresiranju radnih slonova koriste se okrutne metode. Slona se najprije izdvaja iz njegove zajednice i smješta u loše uvjete, gdje ga se često kažnjava.
Dodatan problem je i sama anatomija slona koji nije predviđen za takve aktivnosti. Naime, pod težinom najčešće željeznog sedla, oštećuju se vertikalni dijelovi slonove kralježnice.
Postoji opcija druženja sa slonovima, no za to je potrebno pronaći alternativu, poput sigurnih i provjerenih utočišta za slonove.
Borba s bikovima
Riječ je o okrutnoj tradiciji koja datira iz 8. stoljeća, a koju putničke agencije opisuju kao “ravnopravnu borbu“. No, to je daleko od istine, budući da životinja nema nikakve šanse da se sama obrani. U ringu je puno više naoružanih ljudi, a matador provocira zatočenu životinju.
Uz bikove u ovakvim arenama stradaju i konji. Kako javljaju Prijatelji životinja, izdavač američkog časopisa koji promiče borbe s bikovima priznao je da se konjima koji sudjeluju u borbama s bikovima “daju injekcije iza uha”.
Ovim konjima, koje bikovi nerijetko probadaju rogovima, često se u uši guraju mokre novine kako bi im se oštetio sluh te im se režu glasnice da njihovi krikovi ne bi uznemiravali gledatelje.
Plivanje s dupinima
Činjenica da ne biste smjeli plivati s dupinima čak ni u njihovom prirodnom staništu dokazuje koliko je to narušavanje njihovog prostora. Moguće je tako prekinuti neku od njihovih važnih aktivnosti poput odmora, druženja ili hranjenja.
Turistička atrakcija plivanja s dupinima samo je dokaz da životinja živi u zatočeništvu te da dnevno radi stotine krugova kako bi zabavila posjetitelje. Navodna edukacijska uloga dupina u različitim zabavnim parkovima ne stoji, budući da je jedina svrha i cilj takvih aktivnosti – zabaviti gledatelja.
Maženje tigrova
Posebno popularna turistička atrakcija nudi se u tajlandskim hramovima, gdje posjetitelji mogu maziti tigrove. Riječ je o još jednoj izrazito okrutnoj praksi, budući da je riječ o farmama tigrova. Drugim riječima, nakon obilaska i dodirivanja tigrova, mogu se kupiti suveniri napravljeni – od njih.
Tigar je divlja životinja kojoj je mjesto u njenom prirodnom staništu. Nije igračka i atrakcija za stotine turista, zbog kojih ih lokalno stanovništvo i drži u zatočeništvu.
